ZEN

I heard this was Mick Jagger's favorite restaurant in Montreal. Not certain that an endorsement from a Brit who grew up during  World War II food rationing is entirely desirable, but there is something to like about Zen's $32 all you can eat format where you don't eat from a buffet or a trough but get to be served by waiters and seated in a nice minimalist dining room. This is what I would describe as Canadian Chinese cuisine at its best. It's not authentic Chinese but it doesn't pretend to be. Zen has deluxe versions of the Chinese dishes you grew up on (assuming you're not Chinese) like General Tao and Singapore noodles as well as a very tasty crispy duck that has its share of supporters. I order it for take-out.
