VERSION LAURENT GODBOUT

When it first opened I understood this restaurant served Iberian fusion cuisine, now I understand it is Mediterranean themed. Eating there doesn't really clear up the confusion, although to be fair the only time I ate here it was for a private party and accordingly I haven't tasted anything off the menu. The food is typical Laurent Godbout: solidly executed, playful and innovative with an emphasis on color and texture contrasts. Anyone care for a rillette lollipop or smoked trout with Jerusalem artichoke puree  in a tiny Mason jar? This is the place. Still, it lacks the atmosphere of Chez L'Epicier and the fact that  you can buy anything you see to take home makes it a little too boutique and a little not enough restaurant for me.
