PRIMO E SECONDO

A lot of Montrealers rave about the food at Primo e Secondo located steps from the Jean-Talon market. First, the good stuff. The restaurant is truly charming, the food (especially the gnocchi and pasta) can be great and  plate presentation is superb ( for an Italian restaurant). Despite all the positive buzz, both times I went I was treated to a major service faux pas (as well as a nasty old piece of meat masquerading as a steak which the waiter strooongly recommended that I order) I suspect because I am a youngish jeans wearing person rather than an oldish sportcoat wearing person. Personally, I won't go back but I wouldn't dissuade anyone from giving it a shot (wear your sportcoat).
