LES DEUX SINGES DE MONTARVIE
We first came across this restaurant while strolling down St-Viateur on a fine spring day. The menu looked interesting, the decor was trendy and it was full of hip plateau-types. The only problem was the food. The crab cakes were mushy, the risotto appeared to have been made with processed cheese and tasteless ravioli were drenched in a cream sauce with altogether too much truffle oil. The only highlight of the meal was a “do-it-yourself” beef tartare which I mixed together myself at the table. Truly, a forgettable meal—we didn’t even have the heart to order dessert. I have since heard positive things about this restaurant, but don’t have the heart to put any more or my money on the table to see if they are true. In my mind, Les Deux Singes de Montarvie is a great place to grab a drink with friends on one of a hot summer night, but I’ll be eating elsewhere beforehand.
