LE CHRYSANTHÈME
George Lau's original restaurant serves up similar proto-Szechuanese fare as L'Orchidée de Chine in similar chic surroundings. The prices are lower but the execution is a little more uneven and there is a little less pomp than at its sister restaurant. Nothing really bad to say about Le Chrysanthème but nothing in particular to commend it for either. It slots nicely into the pack of high-end Montreal "Szechuan" restaurants offering western-friendly food at high prices in comfortable surroundings but does not distinguish itself.
