LA CHRONIQUE
If I had to pick my favourite restaurant in Montreal it would be La Chronique. This little jewel-box of a restaurant with its dark wood and red decor set off with black and white photographs exudes warmth. Chef Marc de Canck is a wizard with sauces and the French inspired market based cuisine is well conceived and technically stunning. This is cuisine that emphasizes the freshness and purity of ingredients. Portions are generous and the service is always excellent. The lunch menu is a fantastic deal although the dishes do not appear to be as rigorously prepared as during the evening service.
