RESTAURANT GLOBE

While Globe is, in my mind, quite clearly one of the dreaded “Lower St-Laurent Restaurants” (see Cafeteria, Sofia, Buona Notte and Med Grill) people frequently tell me (sometimes with a straight face) that the food is actually really good there. To these people I respond, putting out a great seafood platter does not make a great restaurant. And the seafood platter at Globe really is good (at these prices it should be). The rest of what I have tasted is disappointing though. The ribs could have come from Swiss Chalet and the grey rubber masquerading as liver is the reason so many people think they don’t like liver. Globe is also likely to be disappointing for people who don’t enjoy scantily clad urchins grinding against their table while they’re trying to finish their meal. Lower St-Laurent Restaurant? Definitely.
