CHEZ DOVAL
One of my favourite Portuguese restaurants for the money, Chez Doval serves up the basic Portuguese rotisserie menu including succulent chicken, grouper and calamari grilled on charcoal behind the bar. Their carne alentejana (pork with potatoes and clams) is my favourite in Montreal. The atmosphere is loud and lively with a guitar playing ministrel making the rounds and the decor is 70s time warp. Reservations are recommended but will not ensure you get a table and the service is brusquely efficient.
