That's a pretty good assessment of what went down last Friday. I didn't like the Eel, Blood, Egg as much as you did. The eel was great but the rest was bland and overpowered by the scallion scaterred on top. I found most everything to be underseaoned. The tartare by itself would have been much better than in that sandwich. The dessert was a big failure in my opinion. I love offal, and I love to be challenged as a diner, but that dessert didn't do anything for me. I guess that, having eaten in the bar section, you weren't privy to the show going on in the dining room. All the VIP dishes, the showy service, the oohing and ahing and the camera flashes. It got really annyoing after a while. It didn't help that the VIP dishes looked so much better than what we were having. Then I started thinking about how my bill was subsidizing this insiders' party and that ruined my mood. Nice review. That’s a pretty good assessment of what went down last Friday. I went for lunch once and thought it was good but not great and never bothered going back. This meal in no way changed my mind about wanting to try it again. If anything I liked the vibe and energy of the place. Not sure the Cosentino meal reflects badly on DNA (except perhaps for making me eat a meal under the red lighting in their bar area). I love DNA for its plate of cold cuts. I love DNA for its full piglet roast but I agree, some other items are so-so.. been very disappointed with their lunch as well... I was having traumatic recall moments of eating chicken testicles--which really was a double surprise because I didn't know chicken had testicles and that they could be (but should be?) eaten. While the Diavolo was good, I'm not sure how much brain or skill is required to make those organ meats enjoyable--not much. The most interesting thing for me was the cockscomb in the desert, which I agree looked weird, but in fact was a nice surprise. In fact, the next day it tasted even worse.
