Hello,

Isakaya is still owned by a real japanese chef and his nice family.
I think it is a very good bistro/joint/japanese style restaurant and I do not agree with the blog's review.
The sushis, plates and japanese specialties are delicious indeed and the food is as good as I what I have tasted back in Tokyo, Japan. And it is the only restaurant with Tri Express where I would eat raw fish or oysters without fear of being sick.
Try it!

Thelonious,

Just a small note: I lived in Japan for five years and married a Japanese. Osaka is the capital of okonomiyaki (not ogonomiyaki).

"O" is an honorific, kind of like saying "Your most honorable".

"Konomi" means "preference" or "interest."

"Yaki" means cooked.

So Okonomiyaki, which is a specialty of Osaka, means "Your most honorable cooked choice."

That being said, I went to Isakaya (which means something like "Food and drink bar" -- typically low-class joint) -- years ago and it was one of the only "Japanese" places that was actually run by a Japanese person.

I don't know if that is the case now, but I highly doubt it.

Good review, keep them coming.
