Bungalow

DINNER September 27, 2008

I admit to not having kept up to date with the restaurant scene this summer. But when a friend invited me to Bungalow for his birthday dinner, I was surprised I hadn’t even heard of it. This is a restaurant that keeps a low profile. A bottle’s throw from the well-known “Verres Stérilisés” dive on the corner of Duluth and St-Hubert, Bungalow has nary a sign on the door to vouch for its existence but is apparently very popular with trendy plateau types.

The decor seems to fit the name. The front door lets in late summer breezes, the stainless steel in the open kitchen is not too polished, the bathroom is behind a sliding accordion door and the corkboard ceiling and red lighting lend a McGill Ghetto touch that transports us back to our student years. A few tables compete with a counter fronting the kitchen and additional bar seats are jammed in for good measure. Continue Reading…

Seoul Travel Review

Not a lot of eating at new restaurants lately as I’ve been enjoying our peak window for local produce by cooking at home quite a bit and eating at well trod favourites like Le Petit Alep (oddly busier now that it has doubled in size).  A short review and some pics of our trip to Seoul has been completed and is posted  in the Food Travel section. Now I only have Singapore and Zurich to complete…but we’re leaving for Maine this morning….woe is me…
