A L’OS

Arguably the top BYOW restaurant in the city, A l’Os offers modern variations on bistro classics such as filet mignon and rack of lamb. The decor is sober and tasteful and the open air kitchen adds to the ambiance of this little restaurant. They also have an interesting selection of bottled water, including rare finds like St-Georges—imported from Corsica, to substitute for the traditional wine list. The ostrich tartar was a pleasant take on a classic dish while lamb with caramelized figs also hit all the right notes. The plates are generally well presented and well executed but not mind blowing and the high prices do not make them a bargain. Perhaps the best restaurant to go to with that bottle you’ve been saving for a special occasion but the waiters are likely to sneer at you if you bring a bottle that can be bought at SAQ selection.
